Insignia’s story began in 2006 with the technology transfer of the Patient Activation Measure® and related works from the University of Oregon. This work was led by Dr. Judith Hibbard with key support from Dr. Bill Mahoney and other university colleagues.  Our team today is diverse, representing the research traditions of academia and a history of innovation in healthcare.

The health activation research that began in academia in 2000 continues today with more than 75 studies under way across the globe and more than 50 studies published to date. This empirical insight informs our understanding of what drives consumer behavior and how we might better tailor support and allocate resources to engage and activate individuals in their health.
