About Insignia Health

Insignia Health is committed to helping consumers develop the behaviors that are crucial to becoming more active self-managers and engaged members of their healthcare team. The company's efforts are anchored by the Patient Activation Measure™ (PAM™) self-assessment tool. The PAM assessment segments consumers into four levels of activation. Each level is unique in its emotional disposition, attitudes toward health, self-management abilities, and use of health care. With these insights, caregivers and healthcare organizations can better tailor support and allocate resources to engage and activate the consumers they support. Additional tailored coaching and self-care resources are available from Insignia to help in this endeavor.

The Importance of Self-Management

Numerous studies point to the fact that consumers hold the keys to the healthcare kingdom. The choices consumers make lead to a vast majority of the health problems, either directly or by expressing a genetic predisposition. Research suggests modifyable lifestyle choices are the largest contributor to common adverse health outcomes.

The Activated Consumer

Consumers are more likely to make good decisions and take more action to promote their own health if they are engaged, informed, and confident. The Patient Activation Measure research over the last four years bears this out. Those who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to take on their personal health challenges experience fewer health crises and functional declines. This translates to better health, and more effective and efficient use of healthcare resources.
